Romania Team 9, CHARITY DAY-giving back to the community

Romania Team nine cadets helped paint a soccer field for a local Adult Care Center for their community service work requirement.

The Adult Care Center, located in Curtea de Arges, Romania, is a facility that cares for adults who have Down Syndrome or mental retardation. The facility lacks funding but does its best to work with what little it is given. Located in the front of the facility is a large cement slab where we painted a soccer area for the residents. We worked together as a team to create the field and planted flowers in pots surrounding it. After completing the field, we played ball with the residents who were excited and happy to see us. We quickly made friends with many of them as we passed balls around to one another and we taught each other how to count in our native language (we taught them English and they taught us Romanian). The experience was an unforgettable event and it was wonderful to give back to the Romanian community.
